HIGH SCHOOL 2008/2009
ADMISSIONS

Dear Parents/ Carers.

Once your children have finished their compulsory education, it is desirable that pupils continue their further education. Certainly, next academic year, 2008/2009, is one of the most important stages in their education process. First, pupils will need to undertake a new High School System (LOE), following changes in Spanish educational structure, at this academic level. Second, this stage leads to University access or High School Degree in Professional Formation (FP), increasing expectations and requirements, following social need and demands.

Nuestra Señora de las Nieves School offers pupils a great opportunity to complete their High School studies in our centre, so student and parents can decide together the route that suits the best to their interests: University studies, Professional Formation or labour market.

Our centre has a wide experience teaching at high school level and very satisfying results (June  2007 examinations session, 100% passed). So far, our students have been able to opt for University studies that they were willing to undertake due to high qualifications. The average mark in the last examination session was 6.71. This mark is calculated by using the High School marks and University entrance examinations marks (selectividad), whereas the average mark for state and private centres altogether registered to UAM is 5.9 over 10 (data is published every year by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, UAM).

Over the last 10 years, our commitment is to continue helping and improving results, introducing a new High School system which was designed to provide a high quality education for all and raising students education standards. We believe that the most significant aspect for parents and carers is that, our teaching approach and everyday dedication offer high quality education, encouraging students, teaching and support staff to make an extra effort to gain their objectives and targets. This high standard and an ideal learning atmosphere give identity to our education project.

Within our centre, we are aware of being involved in a more and more demanding society and its needs, so we have firmly bet on new technologies and Modern Foreign Languages (English and French). Therefore we have at students disposal 2 multimedia rooms ( Internet Room and Language Development Room), to reinforce their education. Using these two rooms enables students to access and enter into a whole information world and helps to develop their formation and language skills during school time as well as in extended school time, during the afternoon, under direct supervision of qualified teachers.

Soon, we will provide and information booklet for subjects given at the school to access most University studies. (Engineering Science, Health Science, Social and Humanity Science).

Its curriculum structure has been designed to offer students the best education to face this complex and changing society where we live in. We hope to satisfy your expectations.

Your sincerely
